Richeal Akosua Bosompem (CE)
Richeal is a Chartered Economist and emerging development research professional with experience in agricultural economics, climate-smart agriculture, ecosystem services valuation, aquaculture sustainability, and socio-economic research. She has contributed to multidisciplinary research and development projects implemented through collaborations among international research institutions, universities, and development organizations in Ghana.
Richeal previously served as a Project Coordinator/Researcher for the Sentinel (Social and Environmental Trade-offs in African Agriculture) Ghana Project, a collaborative initiative funded by the Global Challenges Research Fund – RCUK Collective Fund (GCRF-RCUK) and led by the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED). The project was hosted by the University of Ghana, Soil Science Department, where she supported research coordination and stakeholder engagement activities focused on sustainable agricultural development and environmental trade-offs in Africa. She was also part of the Water, Land and Ecosystems Project led by the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) in partnership with Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). Under this project, she conducted postgraduate research on the “Valuation and Willingness to Pay for the Maintenance of Ecosystem Services (Small Reservoirs) in the Upper East Region of Ghana,” contributing to research on sustainable water resource management and rural livelihoods.
Currently, Richeal serves at the EcoGardens Agricultural Research and Training Hub, where she provides strategic planning and oversight, leads research activities, coordinates data collection and analysis, and supports team leadership and training initiatives.
Between October 2024 and September 2025, she worked with the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) as a Project Intern (Economic Impact), where she cleaned and analyzed socio-economic household survey data from Northern Ghana, produced summary statistics and regression analyses to assess aquaculture pilot interventions, and led a study on the role of women in aquaculture sustainability. She also contributed to research dissemination through blogs, policy briefs, working papers, and stakeholder engagement workshops. Earlier, she gained experiential research exposure with SNV under the Collaborative Learning for Climate Smart Cocoa Project, where she supported farmer training on climate-smart agricultural practices, participated in climate-smart agriculture radio campaigns, conducted data collection and analysis, and facilitated focus group discussions and reporting.
Richeal also worked with the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), Cocoa Health and Extension Division, as a Technical Officer from 2020 to 2023. In this role, she supervised field activities, trained cocoa farmers, monitored and evaluated cocoa rehabilitation projects, managed project data, coordinated farm input distribution, and prepared technical and periodic reports. Her professional interests span agricultural development, environmental sustainability, climate resilience, gender and livelihoods, ecosystem services valuation, and evidence-based policy research.

Gabriel is an experienced Finance expert with a demonstrated history of working across sectors and industries, specializing in accounting, finance and donor fund management, risk assessment and mitigation, and strategic decision-making. He is currently spearheading financial operations at the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) within the dynamic West Africa Region, leveraging over a decade of experience in finance, risk, accounting, and advisory roles.
His journey began at Kinapharma Limited, where he honed his skills as an Accounts Officer before progressing to the role of Assistant Finance Manager. Over the years, he has navigated various financial landscapes, from Perfect Business Services Ltd to Deloitte, where he served as an Assistant Manager of the Risk, Independence & Legal (RIL) unit which was later broaden in scope to cover Quality, Independence Risk and Reputation (QIRR) functions. In addition to his corporate endeavours, he has contributed to academia as an Adjunct Lecturer at Palm University, fostering the next generation of financial leaders in Ghana. His academic background includes an MSc. in International Accounting & Finance from Buckinghamshire New University and a BSc. in Accounting from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
